Re-zeroing and Truing Your PGF

Updated: Dec 17, 2024

How to Re-Zero Your PGF After Adding a Suppressor:

Adding a suppressor to your Precision-Guided Firearm (PGF) may result in changes to your zero and muzzle velocity. Follow these steps to re-zero, true your system, and get back on target:

Step 1: Set Up for Zeroing

  • Aim to zero your system at 100 yards or as close to 100 yards as possible for best accuracy.

Step 2: Take Initial Shots

  • Switch to Auto Acquire Mode and fire three shots to determine your average point of impact (POI).

Step 3: Access Advanced HUD Console (AHC)

  • If adjustments are needed, press and hold the Mode button for 10 seconds to open the Advanced HUD Console.

Step 4: Adjust Your Zero

  • In the AHC, adjust your zero settings for Left-Right (L-R) and Up-Down (U-D) based on your POI:

    • Example: If your POI is 2 inches right and 1 inch low, adjust the zero 2 MOA left and 1 MOA up.

    • (Remember: 1 MOA = 1.047 inches at 100 yards)

Step 5: Verify and Repeat

  • Take another three shots in Auto Acquire Mode and compare the POI to your tag placement.

  • Repeat the adjustment process until your average POI aligns perfectly with your tag.

By following these steps, you’ll re-zero your PGF effectively and ensure it performs with precision, even with the suppressor attached.

How to True Your PGF:

Truing your Precision-Guided Firearm (PGF) is an essential step to ensure accuracy at extended distances. I always true my system at maximum range or my maximum hunting distance. The goal is to fine-tune vertical alignment—any horizontal adjustments are wind-related and should be addressed separately.

Step 1: Take Initial Shots

  • Fire 1-3 shots in Auto Acquire Mode to determine your average point of impact (POI).

Step 2: Identify Adjustments

  • If your POI requires a vertical adjustment, hold the Mode button for 10 seconds to access the Advanced HUD Console (AHC).

  • In the AHC, adjust the "Muzzle Adjust" setting in feet per second (FPS).

Step 3: Adjusting Muzzle Velocity

  • Use the following rule of thumb:

    • If your POI is high (above the target), increase the muzzle adjust.

    • If your POI is low (below the target), decrease the muzzle adjust.

  • For example: If your POI is hitting high, adjust the Muzzle Adjust setting to +20 FPS.

    • (I recommend making adjustments in increments of 20 FPS.)

Step 4: Verify and Repeat

  • Fire another 1-3 shots in Auto Acquire Mode to evaluate the new POI.

  • Continue making small adjustments and retesting until your average POI aligns perfectly with the tag placement.

Pro Tip: At 1,000 yards, 1 MOA translates to 10 inches. Be mindful of this scaling when making adjustments at long ranges.

By following these steps, you can effectively true your PGF for maximum accuracy and confidence, even at extended distances.
